Yes another example of an extremely good play that is absolutely ruined by a totally lame ending, or, should I say, no ending at all. The audience tonight actually let out a collective groan when the lights went out and the play ended suddenly with no resolution of any kind, for any character. This is a 90 minute play that is VERY engaging while it is going on. It is well staged and the four actor ensemble is, frankly, amazing. There was not a phone, a cough ,or a crinkle of a Playbill during the entire thing. Everyone was completely engaged in the action.
But it is all "set up" leading to nothing. It is as if the playwright just turned in Act One of a two act play. It's all very disappointing, because this has the potential to be a great, great play, but it leaves everything totally hanging in the air at the end, as if the writer got stuck and said "ehhh, let's just end it here."
Since tickets are priced at thirty bucks, I would still hesitantly recommend this, if only for the crackling dialogue and excellent actors. Just don't expect the play to come together at the end.
