Hey kids. I'm doing a production of the Outsiders, and am doing Johnny's scar. I've worked with collodion before, but that was for Bill Sikes, and it was a long scar on the right side of my face... For Johnny, we're using four small scars, semi connected to look like they were from the four rings... and such a physical show as this is... they are peeling... I'm at rehearsal now, and kind of freaking because we open Tuesday, and I don't know if that's time to find a suitable alternative...

does anyone know any other ways to make collodion work better, or a better way to make the scar?

thanks.

that's a really big mic...

Collodion is an ustable item. Sometimes you get a great effect from it, sometimes it just looks like sperm on your skin.

I would suggest sculpting the piece out of clay, on a mirror or other smooth surface, and sculpt it the way you want it to look. Keep the clay as thin as possible around the edges. Build a little clay wall around the scar, cover it in a thin layer of vasaline, and then fill the thing up with plaster. Let that dry. Remove all clay and residue from the plaster mold.

Then just paint thin layers of latex into the mold. Dry/Bake it according to the instructions and you can make as many scars as you like. Attatch the piece with spirit gum.

That's the way I'd do it.
