It's the first musical I ever did. I was in 8th grade and I played Aesop.
My question for you is what grade are you and what state is your school in?

Posted: 7/6/07 at 6:51pmI live in North Florida and I will be entering the 8th grade. My drama teacher has already cast Aesop. Aesop will be played by the vocal department teacher. Where can I find more info on this play.

Posted: 7/6/07 at 6:59pmMy drama teacher made me and 4 other kids sing "will you buy my story" for our Thespian competition. And it sucked. He cast a girl as aesop and she was tone deaf. (she was the teachers pet) We ended up getting an excellent. But I thought that there would be no hope for our musical next year. What is the rest of the music like?

It's not done very frequently, so it's hard to get a lot of information on it. It's got some great songs and it is based around some great Fables like the 'Tortoise and the Hare' and 'The Country Mouse and City Mouse'.
A couple of the song titles that I can remember are the opening number 'New', and 'Will You Buy My Story?'
You should have a lot of fun. There are a lot of great roles.

Posted: 7/6/07 at 7:04pmIt's been a LONG time since I did this, so I don't remember the names, but I remember that the 2 mice were played by females. The tortoise was a male, the Hare was a female and the lead character besides Aesop was a female.

What a memory from my past!!!!!
I played Aesop in a slipshod production of the show that was done by one of the regional theaters on Long Island (it will remain nameless).
It was performed on the same set as one of the mainstage and I think they were doing THE MOUSETRAP at the time. Needless to say, the set didn't lend itself to THE FABULOUS FABLE FACTORY.
Our entire rehearsal period was about 6 hours and the show reflected it.
There was an actore's nightmare come true for me one day when I had a 10 AM performance of FABLE FACTORY, a matinee of FIDDLER (Lazar Wolf) at a dinner theater about 30 miles east, and then an evening performance of SOUTH PACIFIC (Cmdr Harbison) at an outdoor venue 60 miles west.
I was glad when that day was over!
