Went to the Cardiff Panto on 23rd, fab-u-lous. Missed panto last year and my it was good to go back! John Barrowman love him or loathe him-and we all know where I stand on that-is like a pig in mud in panto and it's great to see. The production is great, a good balance between adult and kiddie humour (with some of both going over the heads of both as the cast commented, shame) some nice musical numbers, I personally could live without 2 high school musical numbers in one panto but I'm not ten! Nice to see JB singing a song he's previously recorded (everything little thing she does). This panto has magic tricks and ice skating, neither of which seemed gimicky and mostly the ice skaters blended into the rest of the show well (altough the male skater has a face like yesterday's turkey most of the time).
Don MacLean made a fabulous friar tuck and has a deccent pair of legs tucked away-as demonstrated by some fetching fishnets! Andy Jones, a local favorite was a highlight as Will Scarlett as was Pete Gallager. We saw an understudy for Casandra the witch, and I don't have her name to hand but she was fantastic in my opinion.
All in all a great night, one which I'm repeating Jan 2nd! (I don't normally repeat panto trips but well, it's Barrowman!)
Maybe I'm on nobody's side
