i go through periods where ill listen to the same one for a while... currently it is The Color Purple on mix on my ipod- i really enjoy the score and i have become familiar enough with it to fall asleep with it on...

also The Apple Tree is a fav to listen to as I am falling asleep, and Last 5 Years lasted for a few months.

Kristin Chenoweth's 2nd solo album was another CD I used to listen to when going to sleep.

I have a Broadway Night Mix on my iPod that I fall asleep to every night...from Spelling Bee and Wicked to Dreamgirls and Into the Woods I have b'way ballads on there and I'm usually out in 10 min. tops...so soothing re: Falling Asleep to CRs

Cheers,

Christopher

haha...my roommate thinks I'm a complete weirdo for having to put on headphones every night to get to sleep. I'm glad I'm not alone.

Anyway, my top picks are:

Evita (the last 5 or 6 songs are plenty...very soothing)

Jesus Christ Superstar (the first act...I tried listening the second act once and had nightmares of being flogged, hanged, and crucified)

A New Brain (I actually burned a special disc that only contains the songs from "In the Middle of the Room" through "The Music Still Plays On." It's pretty much the bomb...)

Chess

Caroline, Or Change

Oh, and RentBoy...you're not alone. I ALWAYS think about how I would stage a show when I listen to the recording at night. I've even stayed awake for hours at a time and had to grab a notebook and jot down ideas. I figure it will come in handy some day...

Many Moons Ago from Once Upon A Matress is an incredibly soothing song.

Love Sneaks In is also a great song to fall asleep to.

I actaully havent fallen asleep to music in years so I just created a playlist for myself and am going to attempt to do it tonight. Thanks for the idea!

Usually I put on whatever strikes my fancy, but when I cant decide, it's LitP; however I am in a comfortable doze when the song Hysteria comes on, and I awake because of the madness. Then I skip it, and Say It Somehow puts me back to sleep.

I used to fall asleep to MAMMA MIA! every night. I have problems waking up in the morning and I don't go to bed until late. For some reason, MAMMA MIA! always puts my mind at ease and I can just ease into sleep. I saw the tour and thought it was an overall OK show but not something I would see twice.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."
