The London Cast recording is sooooooo much better EXCEPT for Gavin Creel, and the "Teacher's Argument" otherwise the London cast is FAR superior to the new recording. The new one is waaaay too bubble gum sounding for my liking.
I saw the tour and I saw the cd Carmen. Although she had amazing stage presence and was an even more AMAZING dancer, her singing voice isn't theat strong, and it's horribly annoying on the 1998 cd. Loraine Velez, a previous Mimi in RENT NYC, is Carmen in the London cast and belts the crap out of "In LA" and "Fame." Definite reccomendation! ![]()
FAME - LONDON CAST RECORDING
there is a whole other FAME thread deep in the archives of this Board...if you're interested. I liked the US tour fine, wonder how the West End version is.

Yeah, Lorrain Velez in a lot better. I too prefer the London cast except for the fact that Gavin isn't on it.
Whay a recording of the tour cast? Who knows. The tour was the North Amenrican premiere production (large scale production). They also recorded The Wiazrd of Oz tour cast
