Famous actors that are well known in both NYC and London?

Hello all,

I had a question that I need answered. Does anyone know which famous theatre actors (both male and female) are well known in both NYC and London?

I am involved in a show where we want to do a run in the UK and then a run in NYC on Broadway. The producer of this show wants well known actors to play the leads. Now, we want someone who is known in London, as well as NYC. Someone that will have people wanting to come see the show.

Your replies are greatly appreciated.

The vast majority of members of this site don't just hang out on one board and one board only. Consequently, it strikes me as a little excessive to post this request repeatedly.

But judging from the supposedly witty but actually facile and boring responses to this on the Off-topic board (and the Broadway board thread has already been deleted) I'm not really surprised a third attempt was deemed necessary.

I've never really posted anything before on these boards, so I didn't realize that it wasn't a good idea to post it on more than one board. I thought I might get more responses if I tried 3 boards.

I think, if you want to be taken seriously, you need to give people more information about what type of production it is and what type of roles you are trying to cast.

Don't mean to jump down your throat, but your thread(s) seem very vague and almost immature...which begs the question whether or not you're being serious.

If it's genuine, I apologize...we get a lot of idiots on here who like to make multiple accounts to annoy everyone.

Well, it's Lysistrata, but it's written as a musical comedy. It's still in the early stages of production. As of right now, I am on the pre-production team helping to write and finish the music for this show.

I know that the producer of the show would like to take this to London, after having workshops in the states.

The main thing that we are looking for are the male and female lead to be well-known actors.

This is all the information that I was given and since it's still early in the production I wasn't sure how much I should give out.

Lysistrata had a stunning presentation back in 1993 at The Wyndams. It died a death after just 7 weeks even tho it did well at THe Old Vic for 8 weeks prior to its transfer. This just proves that this particular piece has very limited audience appeal. As a musical, I'm really not convinced!

Well of course I am very famous *cough*cough* and I'm sure I could find a free window, (maybe the whole of Ever?) if you wanted to cast me!!

(Well, my Grandma was always a big fan!)

I dont really think this is the right place to do this, we could give you and endless list, but we still dont know, how big this show, what sort of size theatre you'd be looking at etc. as there is no point in giving you REALLY famous names, if it's only a small show! and (Please note, I dont understand the production side of shows, I am a mere commoner), but dont BIG shows usually go through Casting Agents for things like this!

Did it back in high school. Loved it.

But have to agree with the rest. You are asking members on a board for suggestions? why not just work with casting directors if it's gonna be big enough to transfer to BW?
