Unfortunately I'm not familiar with Prettybelle but after reading about it on amazon.com I must buy it. It sounds fascinating.

Edith 'Little Edie' Bouvier Beale: Do you think my costume looked all right for Brooks? I think he was a little amazed.

Sorry, but I just can't listen to her in 'Gypsy'. I keep hearing Merman's voice in my head. Angela keeps pronouncing her 'g's where Merman drops them ('Everything's CominG up Roses v Everything's Comin' up Roses'). Rose was an uneducated woman who wouldn't speak proper English ('Oh no you won't, no not a chance. No arguments shaddup 'n' dance). Angela's too refined for me. But the same thing happens to me when I try to watch the movie of 'Mame'. I can't get thirty seconds into 'It's Today' before I shut off the TV and put on the OCR.

HUSHPUPPY are you saying you prefer Angelas recording of MAME rather than the movie because she IS refined? If So I agree I can't stand Lucielle Ball in the Movie!

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with Prettybelle but after reading about it on amazon.com I must buy it. It sounds fascinating.

I only discovered it myself when [b]Chita33[/b] and I where discussing Ms Lansbury's lesser known works and I had to have it myself.

Have you heard her on this recording???

She sings Hello Dolly, and Carol Channing comes out and sings Mame!

Its hysterical! I wish I could've been there!
It also makes you wonder what would have happen if (god forbid) roles had been reversed.

I love them all, but lately I've been loving her on the GYPSY cast recording.

But my favorites in order would be...

1. Sweeney Todd.
2. Dear World
3. Anyone Can Whistle (Nothing beats her "Me and My Town")
4. Gypsy
5. Mame
6. Prettybelle (I love "I Met a Man")

Bare,I wish those LA benefits where released on film. There are so many wonderful performances in all of them. Tyne Daly sings a very touching medley in that one and Rita Moreno does a nice, intimate piece with "Time Heals Everything." Plus you have JoAnn Worley doing a very frenetic "Just Leave Everything To Me."
