On the ends of some phrases, like "on skid roooowwwwww", Greene would sing up an octave, giving the song an extra umph. When Butler came to those notes, she usually just sang down.

Ok. Well you said that Butler couldn't hit the notes. Perhaps she just sings it differently.

Also, after listening to the original cast recording (not new) last night I noticed how little any of the performers held their notes at the end, which to me creates quite an ooomph at the end. The songs on the new cast recording have more of what people call a "button"

I HATE when recordings of shows have songs that don't have buttons or endings. They just fade out. That drives me nuts!
