I was in Chicago at the closing night of the last stop on the "West Side Waltz" tour -- which we all pretty much knew would be Hepburns last night on a stage -- and when I got back to the hotel and turned on the TV, there was this big woman I'd never heard of singing "And I am Telling You, I'm not Going." I was there the last time Hepburn stood on a stage and I couldn't tell you a thing about it. All I can remember was Jennifer Holliday on the Tonys...

I thought Brian Stokes Mitchell and Bernadette's performances last year were two of the best ever! Gave me chills!
Remind me how Bernadette didn't win???

I really love the show Parade, and in 1999 when it was at the Tony's they performed THIS IS NOT OVER YET combined with OLD RED HILLS OF HOME. At the end when they all let the last note just hang there, the air was electric! Every time I want to be inspired I just watch the video I have of that! I also really like the songs from THE CIVIL WAR from the same year. Seeing that broadcast convinced me to buy the cast album.

Bernadette Peters singing Rose's Turn! Her performance on the Academy Awards( ?) back in the 90s was pretty spectacular too!
