I auditioned for it. Good memory! Village Theatre (near Seattle) is doing a workshop of the show with help from the big Jonathan Larson Foundation Grant in June. Peter Askin (Hedwig) is directing. And as far as I know, Michael Arden is also auditioning for it. I didn't get in. Casting hasn't been announced yet. The show is pretty brilliant. Sh-K-Boom did a concert reading of it a while back with Norbert Leo Butz, Sherie Rene Scott and Greg Naughton.

It's about two parents who lose their first-born son just after he is born. They have a daughter two years later. After her son dies, the mother wants to hold on to him so much that she sees him in her mind, and he ages as the show progresses. The show picks up when her son would be 18 and her daughter is 16. Both the parents have ignored the daughter who has become depressed and negative. The mother sees her son in her mind and he tells her to committ suicide so that she can be with him. She attempts, but does not succeed. Her husband goes to a doctor who suggests she takes electro-shock therapy. It's about dealing with loss, loved ones, family, it's brilliant. The music is very guitar-piano rock. Michael Arden is auditioning/being considered for the son.

The show has music by Tom Kitt (Debbie Does Dallas, Tom Kitt Band), lyrics and book by Brian Yorkey (Making Tracks). The character in Avenue Q "Brian" is based on Brian Yorkey.

I'd love for Michael Arden to come to Seattle and be in the show. That would be really great. He's fantastic. I've also heard that a big name is in negotiations to come and do the show as well. Exciting!

I'll post news as soon as I hear final casting.

No, don't worry about it at all. I got the call to audition completely out of the blue as I have auditioned for the theatre in over 2 years. I'm directing more now. Anyways, I'll definitely post info as soon as I get it.
