That's funny, she mentioned that she will be in Chicago for the "sit down" production of Color Purple in Chicago for a few months (I want to something like 8 months, but don't quote me).

She told us that she was glad to be in Chicago in the "sit down" production so she can be near her daughter. She didn't mention a tour...

CAJ, It is Chicago and Oprah, I assume it will sit for several months. It will not have the market of Wicked, but it should do very well.

I am so happy for Felicia P. Fields. She is so talented and such a sweetheart. I am glad that she will share with people in other cities what she did in New York.

It's wonderful that many more people will get the chance to see this amazing woman perform. With regard to the tour/Chicago production, I was under the impression that the tour was stopping in Chicago and if it just happened to do well (which it almost certainly will) the producers will set up a sit down, which would allow Felicia a chance to stay in Chicago near her family.

Jeanius is correct.

The tour is currently scheduled to open in Chicago in April and remain there for six months through September. If it does well, they plan on making it a sit down production and having the cast move on and continue to other cities and have a new permanent cast brought in (just like what Wicked did when they launched their Chicago production last year.)

If this happens, Felicia will stay behind in the Chicago company and be replaced in the touring cast. If the show does not do well enough to warrant a sit down, I think a new Sofia will begin in the next city and Fields will be done. The only reason she took this job was to be with her family, so I don't see her having any interest in touring past Chicago.
