The commercial for the upcoming Fiddler on the Roof revival premiered today! What do you guys think? I love it. I can't wait to see the show!

^ The most recognizable/popular songs from Fiddler would be "If I Were a Rich Man," "Matchmaker," "Sunrise, Sunset," and "Tradition."

Pretty blown away, not gonna lie. I didn't think it was possible to create such a contemporary marketing aesthetic for a show like Fiddler.

I actually didn't like it. It felt very disconnecting. Like they were trying to do Fiddler meets Vogue.

I loved the commercial. I felt it made this feel like a true revival. Some vibrancy and freshness to not make this story seem too tired, but in a way that greatly stays true to its source material and inner core.

I didn't really like it either. It's very BRIGHT and sorta glamorous which I don't think is appropriate.

I didn't feel a "glamorous"/"Vogue" tone to it - I think it refreshens a dated a musical, which is great for something like Fiddler. It gives it more excitement and vibrancy, as bfreak mentioned. Sometimes I get tired of tradition (no pun intended), knowing what to expect, and with Fiddler, that's easy to do. I hope this makes sense - it's just nice that it's not mimicking the flavor and tone of past Fiddler productions (so far at least) [I'm not talking solely about Broadway productions]. A bit of change can be nice sometimes.
