Now that is a great interview!
Break a leg Harvey!
I still can't see it.... Oh, I hope I'm not going to start crying when I see him next week.
Will miss you, Alfred.

I would really love to see Harvey as Tevye.
He is a fine actor, and his interpretation will most likely be fantastic.
I hope he brings a little more Jewishness to this production, which I hear it is lacking.
Counting the hours till Tuesday night!
But that voice of his ... *whines*

QM,
I think it seems in every interview, Harvey is MOST upset about people pre-judging what he can do. Let's just wait and see.
I'm going Wed and I can't wait.
Personally i love him as a Mama, but now a Papa!
LOL!

Very nice interview. I have to admit I initially reacted with incredulity when I heard Fierstein was taking over the role of Tevye, but it's always worth giving an actor a chance.
But, GaIsSilent, but, but, THAT voice *whines*.
HA! I promise I'll give him a fair chance, I promise. But THAT voice of his...

Harvey is a wonderful actor. Everything he does is perfection.
I can't wait.
He was also the greatest host of the Drama Desk Awards.
Love him! Grumpy and all!
I love Fierstein. He is hillarious (in the movies since I have not seen him in a show) and his unique voice fits certain parts (Mama for instance) but I don't think it fits the part of Tevye. His acting will be stellar, I bet you but his voice will probably be a distraction to the part. But, I wish him all the luck in the world. Break a leg, my man!
That's it, spider. I think he's a hell of an actor. However, his voice drives me nuts and makes me very aggressive just listening to it. If he can put on another voice as Tevye I'll probably love him in the role

Great interview. My only concern came from this quotation:
Songs don't go on any longer than they have to - and they are just sung once; it doesn't come back with a chorus. They are monologues almost. Jerry Bock would almost prefer that you speak it through half of it.
I hope that doesn't mean he's going to speak-sing it. That's a pet peeve of mine.
