You know some days I just sit here and read and LMFAO over what Marc Shaiman writes.
Zola! Shhhhhhhhh!!!!!! you don't wanna get classified as yet another poster with their nose up my butt
however, PM me some night, and we can arrange it!
(just kidding, SW!)
I used to get paid a lot of money for that, back in the day.
Hey wait! Is this the PM button?
I want to go back to the topic...
Someone has asked me why I left out of the list Jerry Goldsmith's mulan... I'm not sure, but I think that he didn't make the songs... I think that Matthew Wilder and David Zippel are credited as the songwriters, except for the song "reflections", Can somebody confirm this?
in other hand...
I don't give a damn on certain messages about noses. specially if we are talking about music, and who says that doesn't like it anything made after 1960. I like shaiman's music long before discovering this board, so, what? I have to be afraid to say that I like his work?
finally... luckyly I'm not Antonio Banderas!
POL, I love when you get excited in your posts...You are like the Charo of BWW!!
I asked my film score agent Richard to sign on and post on this thread...he is like Rain Man what it come to facts about Film Composers and all their activities

Good to know that Jose-with-an-apostrophe STILL puts the "bull" in BroadwayBulldog. But no accent mark, strangely.
[Please don't delete this post, José, okay? I know you're practically a webmaster around here and everything.]
well, my agent says posting on Internet boards is too politically dangerous...can you imagine such a thing?
tell it to george bush! he has to post here with a nickname!

I already cracked that case in the "unimportant ramblings of a straight man" thread. Boborunstheshow is the President of the United States. And gay.
sorry to actual post on subject, but I just wanted to add 2 other Oscar winning film composers who have graced Broadway
David Shire
Michel LeGrand
Oh! I forgot summer of 42!
and david shire? what musical?
I love David Shire!
But, I am reminded that my NOSE has been a bit busy lately, so I'm putting it right back where it belongs, firmly in place at Mr. S's ..uh, doorstep!
If anyone can bring the manic energy and spirit of Carl Stallings' brilliant Warners Brothers' work to the stage it's Marc Shaiman!
btw!
I know that JOHN BARRY wrote one or two musicals... an one is about to be opened this fall in london... can somebody confirm this?
Billy and Lolita, My Love are two of his musicals.
POL
tsk tsk!! David Shire wrote many musicals with his partner Richard Maltby Jr. none of their earlier work had much success but a revue of their songs STARTING HERE, STARTING NOW is performed a lot...there was another one recently but I can't remember what it was called...
Barbra Streisand sang their songs AUTUMN and STARTING HERE, STARTING NOW when she was the first Barbra Streisand...I suggest you run to buy her CD's with these songs on them....ahhhhhhhhhhhhh
they also wrote BABY and BIG for Broadway
David Shire's film credits are too numerous to list, check out IMDB.com
his Oscar was for the gorgeous song IT GOES LIKE IT GOES from Norma Rae
ouch!
I'm almost stupid!
I have the cd's of baby an big!!!!! lol
I like very much david shire, and I have to recommend the cd "Film Music of David Shire"
btw! last night I was writing messages in the board while hearing shire's "The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3". Great music!

I know of Randy Newman primarily from film, but I believe he wrote the music and lyrics to "Faust" which appears to have been everywhere but Broadway
