And although I think the book to BROOKLYN ... SUCKS!.....(I could go in on detail about that) You got to give it up for the performers.... I know some of you think that they "screech" too much.... But is that their fault....They are doing what they are hired to do... If anyone of you were cast in the show...could you hit those notes.... very few can.... you give it up to them....especially Eden and Ramona...
And as far as the comment about "all five" audience members... you better read the grosses.... and yes there might be a lot of twofers and discounts.....but the houses have been good and they are making a profit.... Not many shows can say that they are running in the black....especially after those reviews... The weekly nut is low...someone produced this right!
One more comment about lyrics that progress the plot... Most show tunes today do not...they are mostly character songs... stating how a character feels...about themselves...about someone they love etc... inner monologues....If you listen to the songs in BROOKLYN.... They accomplish this too.."THERE'S A HEART BEHIND THESE HANDS" "I STILL BLEED" "CHRISTMAS MAKES ME CRY" to name a few. Other songs in the show are done as performances on concert stages....the purpose for these are to show the talent.... And again...I can not believe any one can deny these performers their due.... I have not been to many shows where there are standing ovation in the middle of the show.... and yes I agree with the AMERICAN IDOL comments....

Okay... for last week they were 68.5%
You're right, that's the best percentage I've ever seen.

Otherwise PACIFIC OVERTURES and GEM would not be where they are.
The opposite of creation isn't war, it's stagnation.

65% 70% who cares...the bottom line is people walk out of the theatre happy.... I realize they may have a less critical eye.... I walk out and say "why." I wanted so much more too...
I heard the nut is only 275k so at 325k that makes a profit of 50k. That pays the bills...keeps people employed... and a little pocket change... of course will take forever to pay back....and there is always the tour.... (I know that scares you BROOKLYN haters....lol)
Not sure i want to play the numbers game.... just be kind to those onstage....
Those actors deserve our respect. They give their all everynight... and in my opinion they earned the right to be on a Broadway stage.... no matter the material might be lacking....

Sets were unimpressive, although the props were clever and the costumes were at times quite inventive and humorous.
I hate to be preached to in a musical; present the show and let me take away what I can. Too much moralizing!
Overall, it would have been more appropriate to off Broadway but if you can get a cheap ticket, not a total loss of an evening since there are some fine performances that make it worth seeing.

I was told a few days ago that it's barely sold at all for anything past the holidays.
