Hi everyone! I finally got a chance to see Rent - on Christmas Day in Baltimore (at the beautiful Hippodrome Theater). The audience was the smallest I've ever seen at a show, but very appreciative.
I have been a fan of this show ever since my roommate saw it two years ago in New York and bought the "Best of" CD and have been wanting to see it ever since - and Saturday's performance did not disappoint!
I took my parents with me and was a little nervous of what they would think. They've seen The Producers numerous times, as well as Avenue Q, so I think that softened them up a bit as they liked the show as well (maybe just a tad confused afterwards though!).
If the tour of Rent is heading to a town near you - I urge you to catch it. All of the actors were great (especially Mark - and such a cutie!).
Happy Holidays everyone!

Just had to add my voice to this thread: I saw the Rent tour in Philadelphia in December. I waited for 2 hours (on the coldest day since winter had begun) for rush tickets and was lucky enough to get front row center tickets for myself and my 16 year old son (his first time for Rent). I was TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY by this cast! Every performance was stellar. The acting, the vocals: TOP NOTCH!
I was so glad to have shared such an impressive performance with my son. Now when we sing the songs in the car, he has his own idea of what's happening on stage (rather than my explanation)!
PS. 2 days later, I couldn't move my neck because I had spent two hours looking up at the stage, but it was SO worth it.

Posted: 12/27/04 at 2:20pmI saw the Rent tour in Anaheim recently, and I was kinda dissapointed. Collins and Angel were AMAZING, but everyone else just seemed like they were going through the motions. This was a saturday night performance, not a tuesday matinee. I love Rent still, and am a huge fan of the cast recording. Heck, I've been to Rent Kareoke parties, but the performance of the tour cast then was just not good. It was like watching the Rent edition of American Idol. I hope I get another chance to see it becuase I always hear how absolutely fantastic it is.
