Finian's Rainbow rush help!

I have never done Student Rush before! I really want to see this during the Saturday matinee and need any and all suggestions on how to get a ticket! DO I HAVE to go right when the box office open? Will it be crowded? I know there's a lot of questions here. But I could use some help! THanks yall

re: Finian's Rainbow rush help!

I doubt it will be crowded. As I said before, I went on a friday night 20 minutes before the show and got front row.

re: Finian's Rainbow rush help!

I'm sure you won't have a problem, I got there about an hour before a Saturday matinee, and got 10th row orchestra. The show was still in previews though, so I'm not sure if that would affect it. I'm sure you'll be fine though.

I went and waited for the box office to open on a Monday morning, and I was the only one in "line". No problems with our show, even quite a few empty seats in the theatre. Not sure how's it been since it opened though..

re: Finian's Rainbow rush help!

Are you allowed to request certain sections when you rush? I only ask because I had read on another thread (one I typed a lengthy reply to moments ago that then just never appeared) that you could possibly ask for front row side. I am also curious as to whether they are giving out box first, then center orchestra, or if it's just random. I am trying to rush for next Saturday's matinee and I'm just wondering when I should get there. I can't go uber-early because I'm also trying to rush A Steady Rain for the evening. Hey, I'm a student on a tight budget and plus it's only an hour and a half. I have tickets to SNL, where I have to arrive at 10:15 at the latest and so I'm trying to squeeze in as many shows as humanly possible. Heck, if Rock Horror still had their second performance or Forbidden Broadway was still around I'd be in show-cramming heaven! Anyway, than you in advance for any help y'all can offer. It's much appreciated.

bumping this. How has the rush been?
I'm a professional. Whenever something goes wrong on stage, I know how to handle it so no one ever remembers. I flash my %#$&. "Jayne just sat there while Gina flailed around the stage like an idiot."

re: Finian's Rainbow rush help!

Both times I rushed I ended up in the left orchestra, to the extreme side. First time Row F, second time Row C. I missed a tiny bit of the set, but no action.

re: Finian's Rainbow rush help!

I went again yesterday, got there around 10:30 and was on the far right side row J in the orchestra.

re: Finian's Rainbow rush help!

I'm thinking of rushing this tomorrow for the evening show.

I was wondering if it's better to buy the tickets as soon as the box office opens or wait later in the day (as I've read people havent had trouble getting rush tickets right before the show)

I ask because I dont know if they give away certain seats first and then give away whatever is left. I remember for GYPSY they gave front row first but I found the box seats or side orchestra seats they distributed after the front row was gone gave a better view of the production.

Bumping to see what it's been like, or insights for tomorrow. Anyone else trying to go tomorrow afternoon?

re: Finian's Rainbow rush help!

I don't know how they're distributing rush seats but I got to the box office on Tuesday at about 12:45 and got 2 tickets in row D of the orchestra off to the right side and had a perfect view. I'd suggest getting there when the box office opens or a little before if you're trying for tix for tomorrow, just because it's a very busy weekend for theater and most of the shows fill up.

re: Finian's Rainbow rush help!

I rushed this last Saturday, late in the day purposefully because I didnt want box seats. I rushed at 4:30PM and got ORCH ROW H 22. The three seats next to be were empty along with some of the ones in the row behind me. I cant see Finian's filling every seat in the house despite it being Thanksgiving weekend, but I could be wrong.

I'm coming up to New York and rush for Finian's Rainbow since it's closing. Any idea how hard it's going to be to get rush tickets?

re: Finian's Rainbow rush help!

re: Finian's Rainbow rush help!

At last Sunday's evening performance, I was able to get a great right orchestra seat (H22) an hour before curtain.

re: Finian's Rainbow rush help!

Happy New Year all!

Quick question - With regard to this particular mounting, is the stage HIGH at the St. James? What's 'the best location' seating-wise to really 'take-in' the full production.
#21

re: Finian's Rainbow rush help!

With the stage height - I sat in the middle center of the orchestra and it looked like the stage was kindof low. The orchestra is in the pit, so there is some room between the front of the stage and the seating. I remember thinking front row would be a good seat. Hope I'm remembering correctly!!!

In regards to rush - do they also accept High School ID or is it just a college ID rush?
