"Five Flights" - For those who thought Alice Ripley was just Emily's straight man

This girl is absolutely whacked! Giving a hysterical, yet deeply heartfelt performance in one of the tightest ensemble casts I've seen since LAByrinth's "Our Lady Of 121st Street." Miss Alice could never utter another note--God Forbid!--and have no trouble finding employment in the American Theatre for the rest of her life. What a neat surprise! And may I add, the direction by Kent Nicholson is inspired, innovative and just plain delicious. The play (by Adam Bock) ain't so bad either, with several monologues every actress in New York will soon be killing to get their hands on. Rattlestick is really uping the ante this year.

Now before you think I'm a shill for Rattlestick, I have a question: Why does Rattlestick and The New York Theatre Ensemble have a series of NON REQUIRED Equity Open Calls for Actors WITH THE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR IN ATTENDANCE and then when you go to the theatre and open the program you notice each production is cast though an independant casting director? In this case, Stephanie Klapper Casting. Do these guys just need to feel "a part of" once a year, or what? I personally kill myself to get up at dawn and cue up on 46th Street to get a slot. I'm begining to feel like a huge AH.

I got news for you, Daisy, from the choices I saw on stage at the Rattlestick it appears THEY BOTH ARE! Alice Ripley is dead camp! I guess she just felt it would be good press to play good cop to Emily's bad cop when they were out in public together, but I'm tellin' ya . . . You gotta see this performance!

Honestly, I always knew Alice was crazy... lmao. Actually, off stage, I'd peg Emily as the straight man to Alice. LOL! Emily is just more of the 'character actress', but Alice is DAMN funny, too.

Whatever, they're both crazy, in two completely different, albeit funny, ways. > I reallllly want to see Five Flights next week. I'm going to make my best attempt to go. :)
