Exactly how was this achieved.
I still list missing this revival as one of the pitfalls of my short life, so far :)

So did the audience have an underwater view as well? Or what...?
re: Flooding the Stage in Nine?#5
Posted: 8/1/06 at 3:28pmNo, it only flooded a few inches.

oh wow!! That's so cool...
It seems as if The Glass Menagerie has killed Mr Leveaux's career

I doubt that. He's a great director. He just took a risk with that production and it didn't work. He'll be back

Posted: 8/1/06 at 3:54pmI was (I think one of his few) a fan of his work. I thought Jumpers was a dreadful play, but I loved what he did with it, and I loved his Fiddle and I even thought The Glass Menagerie was passable. Partly thanks to his direction. Oh well...

That flooding the stage thing was so super sweet - but I didn't notice it happening the first time I saw Nine.
I was like "wait... wait is the floor wet?" and by then it was already in. It was very unobtrusive and in a childish way I really liked watching everybody splash around in it.
And they USED the water well - Carla picking her torn up papers out of it, Luisa knocking the chair over into it when she was angry - the water was actually really effective for a lot of what went on in that scene.
And I missed it going out the first time too - very seamless.

The "Weeping Wall" was magnificent!
It is one of my favorite theatre moments of all time and I've been seeing Broadway since the 70s. I saw the original production of NINE!
Leveaux made no mistakes with NINE as far as I'm concerned and his NINE had a very respectable run.
The recent Sweeney lifted me in the same way Leveaux's NINE did.
