Looks like the Brooklyn Marketing team is FINALLY achieving some great ideas. First their deal with Movie Tunes, and now this:
DELTA INFLIGHT CHANNEL:
"It’s a real treat to have this much talent on board. Join charismatic cast member Cleavant Derricks for a stroll through the streets of Brooklyn: The Musical! It’s a terrific, new Broadway musical and a behind-the-scenes, real-life fairytale."
Fly Delta!
WTF??????????
Ah, so this is what desperation looks like.
desperation?
This is an amazing marketing tool.
"Who flys on airplanes? TOURISTS! confused ones, coming to NYC and wondering, "gee, what show should i see?" this extended commercial introduction to the show COULD answer that question for them"

wait...they're showing the entire show?? or like the making of it??
Not the entire show.. Just a long commercial
::headdesk::
What I want to know is where they're coming up with the money for all of this?!
all the more reason to fly jetblue.
They don't have to come up with any of the money -- its called product endorsement!
And more Broadway shows should be this savvy. Very, very smart. American Airlines should have a deal to advertise ROUNDABOUT's shows on their flights.

i dont like Delta, they left my wheelchair in NY on my recent trip to Florida.
What a great idea.
The audience has to stay there and, unlike the real production, can't go running for the door.
buuuut Continental is the 'official airline of broadway'. i love continental
yeah Mr. Tuttle, the thing I like about broadwayworld is that after reading your comments, there is a bathroom just down the hall for me to throw up in.
I've had issues with Delta since their offensive "I'm Susan. Fly Me" advertising campaign years ago. This is just another nail in their coffin.

this, as well as the movietunes idea are actually brilliant advertising campaigns, and what most of you don't realize is that most people who are not involved in theatre (that includes movie-goers and tourists on planes) really really enjoy the music from brooklyn because it is very "pop" oriented. i don't enjoy the show, but i have heard many people say "have you seen that great new show with awesome music?" i ask what show they're talking about, and they say "um... i think it's the name of a borough, brooklyn maybe?" i mean people who are only accustomed to hearing the radio really are attracted to the music.. and this campaign is probably going to really help the show out.
I agree, but people can't remember a simple title such as Brooklyn? ( I mean the name has been around for a long time now, not just for the show ~_^)But I totally agree with what you said.

well that's because they're not paying attention because they're not theatre people. but tourists going to new york are likely to hear the music, maybe want to take a night to go see it... it's a pretty ingenious advertising campaign.
Yes I agree. I went to Bklyn knowing nothing of the show and the moment Eden sang her first note I was inspired. I loved the show and it remains the best theatre experience I have ever had. Not just because I liked the book, music, lyrics (cuz some would argue about that) just because the show did its job of inspiring and entertaining me.
Thank God I'm flying US AIR later this month.

haha matt! i just flew us air yesterday and thought the same thing when i read this post...
emo, it's because you liked the costumes, no?
I liked the costumes yes, but I just enjoyed the show and my favorite cd is now the Cast Recording. Eden inspires me as an actor, I love her from Disneyland to Broadway story, and I live close to her hometown. I also think the show has lots of heart because how much the writer can relate.
iflit: What's this "I'm Susan. Fly me" campaign? I've never heard of it.
I was at the movies yesterday with a friend. As I walked in, I heard familiar screeching. I have to admit, this is pretty good advertising, but really, Broadway is expensive for tourists, especially when you factor in hotel costs, meals etc. I think most tourists go for what they know, especially when they travel a long distance.
For the record, I enjoyed BKLYN and so did my mom, who had never seen a show on Broadway. I was happy to hear Bway in the movie theatre too.
"Costco puts ducats on sale"
"Theater tickets at Costco? The mega-retailer is selling discounted tickets to "Brooklyn," a Broadway musical, to its members over the Web.
It's a pilot program, said Pat Callans, vice president of member services for the corporation, and he's not sure when it might expand. But he said he's "looking for inventory. There are plenty of venues out there.
The price is $54 for tickets that cost $90 at the box office and $57 to $66.50 for tickets that normally cost $95. But fees totaling $5.25 are tacked on to the Costco price. "
WHEN WILL THE MADNESS STOP!????!
