How exactly does the flying machine work?

The flying machine in Wicked?
If so:
I think there is some kind of platform attached to a lifty-thing. Also, the skirt you see when Elphaba is flying is not the skirt the actress is really wearing. It is a "false front" (I think). The actress stands on the platform and I think has something around her waist...I'm sorry, this isn't really very helpful. This is all mostly my speculation. But it has been discussed several times, so if you do a search you might come up with something more concrete.

She steps back onto a trap door (noone sees it) kinda like a platfrom/cadge. Then when shes moving up saying {{ ITS MEEEE]] then the back drop goes up with her dress and thats it. And as my icon shows thats the ending pose. Hope it helped you.

Um..no..far from it.
