Did anyone like it? Just curious, because I thought it was brilliant.
(I did a search and found nothing on this. If you know of a post, let me know, I would love to hear what people thought of it.)

A treasure in the world of theatrical DVDs.
...I thought so too. Thanks!

I love it, for the most part.
I wish they'd chosen someone (anyone) other than Carol Burnett to do "I'm Still Here" which is the most interpretationally weak version of the song I've ever heard or seen.
And Mandy Patinkin could have used a double dose of Ritalin during "Buddie's Blues" -- which, as often happens with him, became about "Mandy showing off" rather than the character's situation.
But otherwise, it's terrific.
Yep, I do agree about Carol Burnett and Mandy Patinkin. I am a fan of Burnett, but not a fan of Patinkin. As a whole, I thought the ensemble aspect was brilliant. Thanks for the thoughts.

I wish this was done with more cast recordings. I love Mandy and Carol. I read somewhere that on the first evening(there were two concerts , I Think)Mandy really fudged "Buddie's Blues."
In the interview he said he was terrified and he psyched himself to fail.
Buddies Blues is a very "wordy" song. Mandy is a bit hyper if you will. Hyper and wordy is a bad mix.

You know , one of my favorite lps...yes lps....is Mandy Patinkin's first album. He did 4 numbers where he ends up wailing at the end of the songs. I drove my neighbors and family crazy playing those tracks.

Loved them!
And back to Follies in Concert, didn't you guys just love Lee Remick? She was terrific in Lucy and Jessie?
By the way, there is a part that I never understood what was going on.At the performance, all the ladies are in line to go out for "Beautiful Girls" and Elaine says something and Phyllis Newman reacts to it. But I never understood what Elaine said? Anybody?

Lee Remick was wonderful! As was George Hearn and Barbara Cook!
Just watched the DVD at "Beautiful Girls". It sounds like Elaine Stritch says "This is fun isn't it? G#d Damn it!". Then she crosses herself. If she says something else, I can't figure it out.
Just watched it several times. I had the wrong segment. She says something like " You use these once and then you throw your costume tonight". Betty says something on the order of "We have to change after this?". I then heard something about opening jitters. That's what I heard, I'm just a stand-by for heavens sake, what do I know? I'm stressed now.
