I am sooooo happy!!! re: For anyone who lives in or near knoxville, tn

The Tennessee Theatre is much nicer than the Civic and it's going to be much more like going to the theatre. I can't wait!!!

That's good to hear. What shows will you be getting?

I was so thrilled when I first found this out! I have performed with groups in BOTH of these theatres and am very familiar with both the front of house AND back of house set ups. As both an Audience member AND a performer, the Tennessee is MUCH better to perform in. And everyone there is so nice! I'm fairly happy with the current line up, however, I can't wait for them to start brining in some shows we've never had before. (Am I the only one tired of Cats?) I really do want to see Movin Out! But, most of the others I've seen already. (Not that I would object to seeing them again, but, as a college student, I'm on a limited budget.)

Now that we've got this... would anyone else like to see a GOOD community theatre group get in here? It would be the best place to have one. (Bijou is just too big, it swallows everything.) I would just love to see them get someone in there who REALLY knows what they're doing to direct and/or supervise. Just a thought.

everything they are bringing in is a non-eq tour.

Am I the only one who thinks that is an issue? I remember when Knoxville used to get 1st run national tours.

When our "Naples Philharmonic" theatre raised their prices for second and third rate tours -- sometimes non -equity to around $90 each with NO discounts, I decided it made a lot more sense to fly to New York a couple times a year and see the Broadway productions, usually with discounts for LESS money!
