A stage manager's report is not Page Six. It's a simple report of what happened at a performance. If she couldn't be heard without the mic, then that's what the report would have said. The end.
OK, hail to the stage manager's report and screw my own experience because you say so.

Queen, I'm not talking about your experience and I never was. It's quite obvious to anyone with half a brain that if stage managers are making up stories on their reports, they will be disproved very quickly by many, many people. Doesn't happen. Common sense would tell you that.
Didn't you say 'the end' before? I was hoping you were telling the truth.
Can you just get over the fact that I will continue to doubt your story because (once again):
1. I don't know you.
2. You're even admiting that you didn't witness the incident yourself.
3. I have not witnessed anything like this myself.
4. I have not read the stage manager's report.
So if you excuse me, but you continuing to tell me that the stage manager's report is always correct means NOTHING to me for the above reasons.
If you have the urge to continue this discussion I'd be delighted to do so via PM. To be frank, I think we might be boring everyone else here as this seems to be a bit of a 'thing' between the two of us and has nothing do with the subject of this thread anymore... or maybe I can visit you on the adults thread and we can continue on there

When my friend went to see the show during camp and Idina takes out her lunch, she accidently dropped it. she's supposed to say "wanna shar my lunch" but instead she improvised and said "I guess i forgot to pack my lunch todya"

Just a correction on the whole mic issue. I believe the two were to exit the stage anyway (running away from the bad ozians), but my friend mentioned that they were trying to suppress giggles as they were leaving because of the way the hug/rip/etc went.
I think being able to sing and be heard to the back of the house depends on how big the theater is. At the Gershwin, no matter how great you are, the fact that the theater is HUGE and does not let the sound carry is a huge factor. I think Ziemba and Menzel could probably sing equally loud without their mics...it just depends on the theater size and if walls allow the sound to bounce off of them, etc.
It's interesting that Queen Muppet has such a hard time believing something as straight forward as a stage manager's report and yet makes sweeping statements about how nowadays all orchestras are so freaking loud that you can't hear an unmiked singer over the first two rows. I have heard plenty of unmiked singing in my time, both planned (Barbara Cook, Ute Lemper, a production of Is There Life After High School?) and unplanned (too numerous to mention) and while I have never been in the front two rows for any of it, I have always heard the unmiked voices just fine.

Erm, sorry but what has your first point (the stage manager's report) got to do with your second one (loud orchestras)? Your statment made no sense. If you re-read my comments to Rath I clearly made my point about the reasons why I don't believe it.
I'm aware of a stage manager's report but again, read my posts first before commenting on them.

when i saw the show, joey mcintyre dropped the wand during dancing through life and it rolled off stage.
when i saw rent, collins' mic BLEW out (very loud sound). the scene continued and he calmly went to the band and got a new mic.
unfortunately, and i don't blame the performers at all, the need to talk to the little old lady in the last row has dimminished
Erm, I did read your posts, QM. And my post made perfect sense, thank you. What one statement had to do with the other was actually explained in it, if you had looked closely.
I'm glad your post made sense to you, Popcultureboy.
So what has got me doubting that someone in the rear mezz can hear Karen without a mic got to do with my point about the orchestras being too loud??? I was never doubting the content of a stage manager's report (check back my four points I made to Rath).
If you think your point about YOU being able to hear unmiked voices just fine explains your point, then let me tell you, it doesn't. I can only congratulate you on your good hearing but if you excuse me, I still have yet to hear a performer who can compete against a full miked orchestra. So in the meantime, I will continue to question the fact that Karen was able to pull it off. Thank you.
