Here's your official word. Across the country, November 23rd. No more confusion, bit more wait.

It's on the blog as well.
I know, I saw. And people were still like "wait, what?! AHHH!" Sometimes they trust Playbill more? *shrug*
that's so cool what he said about the cast... how they were there even when they weren't scheduled to film anything just to support each other. that is so great
!
Well, there go my plans on the 11th.
Man, I was going to leave work early and go catch the film. I guess opening over Thanksgiving weekend will give it bigger box office numbers. I wonder if this is a good or bad sign . . . The studios nixed a limited release because it is not that good and word of mouth my damage receipts, or that it is great and they think they can get huge numbers over a holiday weekend?
It's a good sign. That means they have enough faith in the movie, and confidence that they don't need to use a high-profile limited release to generate buzz; they're feeling that the movie can hold its own.
The fact that it's a holiday, and now POST-Harry Potter can't hurt, either.
It's not a bad thing, I promise.
I've often said that the insanely lengthy limited release that Chicago had in the US caused it to underperform. I know it won Oscars and took a shedload of money, but by the time it opened wide, it had been in an ever increasing "limited" release for so long that there was not the big jump in box office takings that the evil Weinsteins were hoping for.
That's what I thought, but with the studios, you never know. For them, it all comes down to how much money the film will make.
Anybody know what the new song is going to be?
It's a big, fat secret!
Anyone else notice that Playbill has cofirmed that they are using the late 90's as the time frame?
"With its groundbreaking rock score by Larson and a story that captured the current of its generation, Rent is set in late-90's New York (updated in the film) in the East Village, where a group of artists love and live La Vie Boheme even under the shadow of poverty, failure, illness and death."
I wouldn't take it for gospel, after it's been debated and explained and debated how many times? They make misstatements.
Anthony himself said there was no "set" time frame for the movie. They never actually say what year it is in the movie. But it's made to look sometime in the 80s, I think.. (which is when RENT was written) so you could tell the difference between today's EV and the EV back then. It's a slight period-peice if you will.

NOOOOO! what's the point of living in LA now. AHHH
Thanks Thespian. That is what I thought. So, I was surprised to see that line in the Playbill note. I can only imagine the thread that would occur if it is updated time wise . . . the thought gives me a headache already.
