When "Forbidden Broadway" spoofs Patti Lupone on 2 of their CD's, Patti mumbles something that I can never make out.
On "Forbidden Broadway SVU" she says it during "I Love Patti" when the background voices are saying "She loves playing Reno Sweeney"...
And on "Fobidden Broadway Volume 2", right after Patti and the boys sing "Patti Lupone" to the tune of "Anything Goes", and the music segues into "I Get A Kick Out Of Me"...
It sounds something like "I'll make the devil of you Billy"... or something. Anyone know what shes saying????
She is taking the pi$s out of they line "I beg to differ with you, Billy," which is an actual line in Anything Goes.
It is just used to highlight Patti's occasional inaudibleness (word?).

Occasional? And it's not that she is inaudible, it's that she has poor diction.
Six of one and a half-dozen of the other.
The word is inaudibility and the Anything Goes number on Vol 2 makes me roar with laughter every time.
"But then my hay yah haya yah hay wah haya....."
