For sold out Fringe shows, they sell tickets at the door 15min prior to show time.
1. Has anyone obtained tickets this way?
2. Are there a certain # of tickets that are always set aside JUST for in-person sales, or are all of the tickets sold online, and the in-person tickets are only for no-shows/cancellation?
3. How early should one line up to guarantee a ticket?
Thanks!
That is not exactly how it works.
I think you are confused by the ticket policy. For shows that are not sold out, ALL advance ticket sales stop 24 hours before the performance and the rest of the tickets are sold at the door 15 minutes before showtime.
When a Fringe show is sold out in advance, it is sold out. There are no tickets held aside to sell at the door. (Sometimes, the show will decide to buy 10 or so themselves to have on hand in case someone important shows up, but that is up to the people involved in the show, NOT the Fringe Festival.)
If there are any tickets available to the standby line, they are cancellations and no-shows. They are not guaranteed and there is no way of predicting how many they will have.
Thanks for your reply.
I was confused by the message on TicketWeb that stated that no more tickets were available online or because the show was within 24 hours, and that the only way to buy tickets now would be at the venue 15min before show time. I checked two days prior so assumed it was because the show was sold out, not the 24hr cut off. But the 15min note was unclear to me whether they set aside tickets or not just for standby.
I decided to come down to the venue and the Fringe associate informed me they did have a handful to sell, my lucky day :)
