Frog and Toad cast recording

Posted: 6/19/03 at 6:38pmI was looking around on Broadwaynewyork.com and noticed that a cast recording for A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD exists--I have no idea. Anyway, although Broadwaynewyork calls it the "Broadway Cast Recording," it is actually the Minneapolis Cast Recording. It is also available at http://www.footlight.com and it is cheaper there ($16.95 vs. $20.00).

Posted: 6/19/03 at 8:07pmfour of the cast are the same. The only difference is that instead of Jennifer Gambatese, who was in the Broadway cast, you have Kate Reinders, who originated ther ole but couldn't do it on Broadway becasue she is plying June in Gypsy.

Posted: 6/19/03 at 9:41pmI'm just wondering is anybody else got the Frog and Toad Sampler CD. It has four songs on it and I got it in the mail.

Posted: 6/19/03 at 9:51pmI got the Frog and Toad sampler in the mail, and for now I feel that it's enough and I don't have to get the whole C.D. It has four of the show's best numbers on it (the title song, I'm the Snail With the Mail, the song about raking leaves, and Getta Loada' Toad), and I have an unhealthy amount of fun singing out, "Toad looks funny in a bathing suit!"

I agree!
It's a great CD.
The harmonies are terrific!
Now, can SOMEONE please explain why the producers of FROG AND TOAD decided to put the weakest number in the show on the Tony broadcast? I realize that they had already posted their closing notice come Tony time, but the whole idea of putting a selection on the air is to drum up business. The number they chose would, in no way, sell a large number of tickets for their final weeks. If they had gone with "Getta Load of Toad," that would have sent ticket sales skyward.
I did like the song they chose when I was watching the entire show, but it was the most intimate moment for the two main characters, and Radio City is no place for intimacy!
It seems that ANY other number would have been a better choice.
Opinions?

::sarcastically:: I guess they figured they might as well join in the 'fag-fest', as I have heard it called.
I don't like people.
I agree. I saw that number and even the kids on the stage looked bored with it! A show like that shouold have used an upbeat number. Then the kids would have looked more into it, so more parents would have gotten tickets thinking that their kids would enjoy it too.

Ulla and I like.....listening to "Cookies, Cookies, Cookies --- we're so happy eating Cookies" in the afterglow!
You'll remember that I - Max - got the girl in the movie!
Fondly,

Posted: 6/20/03 at 12:51pmI loved the show so much I bought the cd right then and there. You are correct , the number they chose to do for the Tony's was not the best. I think Cookies would have been great or Toad Looks Funny in a Bathing Suit.
