The Brits are much about tabloid press, but do you think the Dreyfuss is as much of a wacko as he looks in the article that Rob discusses in today's Bway Pulse?
Guardian Article.
What a weirdo.
I found it rather sad. There's nothing you can do if your body, after years of abuse, has decided to give up on you.
Richard has always sounded odd. This is par for the course. He rambled to Baba Walters years ago and made her look like a poster girl for sanity.
This just goes to prove the state of musicals today where you need a name to make a hit.
"Hey's let book the guy who can't sing or dance..he's perfect!!!"
My kids and I have worked with him 3 times. I do agree he seems a little odd. He was not one to be chummy with people he did not know. However, I do enjoy his work and respect him as an actor.
Jenna Elfman
Faye Dunaway
Chris Kattan
Justin Guirini (Sp - but I don't care)
Now add Drefus to that list
What are you people talking about? He sounds like the voice of sanity to me. He has problems and he admits to them. His cynicism re the British Press is totally justified - there is no sleazier, more irresponsible press in the world and the reporter here clearly has an agenda.
I've worked with him too and found him to be very smart and very funny. He's not everybody's buddy but so what? He's not rude or unfriendly. And, oh by the way, he's a superb actor.
I've got to agree with mallardo. I can understand where he's coming from. You reach this age and everything starts breaking down - WAAAAAAAAY too fast. Mentally you're just as young as you ever were and just as capable of doing anything you want. But the reality is that you can't. And being faced with that really hurts.
I hope he gets some satisfaction through his teaching but I really hope he gets back to acting soon. He's still one of my favorites.
Considering that in the space of a few short months Dreyfuss has announced that he's quitting film to concentrate on the stage, then bailed out of Sly Fox and the Producers because of various problems and now wants to teach...and considering his bizarre and unprofessional comments on London TV telling people not to come to the show...I think there's something else going on here.
I have always liked a lot of Dreyfuss' work but geez, guys...you have to admit his behavior has been weird and erratic.
You can blame both Dreyfuss and Brooks for taking the role of Max in such a cavalier way. Brooks of all people should understand the demands of that role by now. And Dreyfuss started off by saying he couldn't sing or dance, so frankly I think they should both bear the blame.
He needs to figure out what he wants to do and get his head on straight. He's a very talented man but he's out there somewhere right now...not on this planet.
He sounds very confused. But both him and Brooks are to blame for his Producers situation. It sounds like he knew full well from the start that he wasn't able to do the show.
