I just got free tickets to see an advanced screening of Frost/Nixon at my local movie theater for this Wednesday. Has anyone seen the movie yet or heard anything about it? Does it even have a release date? I didn't get the chance to see it on Broadway so I am glad I have the chance to see the film. I'd keep an eye out for more advanced screenings in other places.

How did you get the passes? What part of the country do you live in?

I live right outside of NYC. The screening is at the Palisades Center Mall AMC. A man came into the theater I was in tonight and was handing out passes to those who wanted them.

interesting. I wonder when they're opening it. I thought they would go for some Oscar gold, but I didn't think it was scheduled for 2007.

I'd say you're in a "test audience". There is no release date other than 2008 listed on imdb and it's listed as in post-production. So it's probably what they THINK will be the finished version of the film and you'll probably have a survey to fill out afterwards to rate it so they can determine if they need to change anything, how to try and promote it, etc.

I do not think that they filmed scenes with Frank Langella and Michael Sheen until after the Broadway run was over, which ended August 19, so I would imagine that filming continued well into September. I am surprised that they are already having test screenings so soon after principal photography was completed.

Sounds like an advanced test screening.

Just got back from it! It was good, but I was a little disappointed. I'll write more in a bit . . .

God, why did they bother making this into a movie? And with Ron Howard at the helm it can't be anything other than a waste of time.

I'm seeing an advanced screening this Wednesday. I didn't get to see the show on Broadway, so I'm excited to see the film. I'll post my thoughts here after I see it.

If anyone's in the Union Square area in Manhattan on Wednesday afternoon, I may have an extra free ticket to one of the Frost/Nixon screenings. I posted here because a couple people seemed *really* excited about it earlier in the thread. The screening company has a couple of conditions. You have to be between 17 and 59, and you have to have seen two of these movies: Sideways, United 93, Michael Clayton, Lost in Translation, The Good Shepherd, The Constant Gardener, The Queen, Good Night and Good Luck. PM me if you're interested.

#1Elphie, I assume that's the same one you're going to?

I'm not sure if all the showings have the same regulations, but when I went they asked if people had seen two of those films and ages, but your answer didn't affect if you got in or not. For example, both a 15 year old and a 61 year old got in. I suppose you could just lie about your age, but I'm just saying that it really doesn't matter.

Also, regarding the film, the script remained almost entirely the same. They basically took the staged version and plopped it on film. Unfortunately certain aspects didn't translate to film, which was suprising because it seems like a very easy show to adapt. The sections in which people spoke directly to the audience where awkward and a lot of the drama seems to have been sucked out of it. I also didn't like the ending. At all. Basically, I felt that there was no thought behind adapting this to film.

I wasn't able to go to the screening last week since the roads by me were very icy. I wish I was able to. I guess I'll just have to wait until it comes out.

That sounds kind of disappointing considering those two Actors at the helm. I missed it on Brway and was interested in seeing the Movie. Well it might end up as a rental. Though not too much really interesting to see these days. It's a little bit better this month though. If it's more stage that won't bug me too much.

I'll just be disappointed if they don't get the drama right. Nixon loved Drama and always thought he was just so good at it.
