First, I will say that this is Shilling for a friend who is making his NYC stage debut (after auditioning for four and a half years). However, I waited to see the show myself before I posted because I wanted to make sure I wasn't promoting a piece of crap.
Footloose is what it is, a piece of fluff. However, this production is very enjoyable, and the cast has great chemistry with one another and draws you in (I was worried about this having seen 5 different productions of this show). The only complaint I had with the show was the lack of amplification. I usually love shows where microphones are not used, however the accoustics of the room are not excellent and some voices get drowned out.
I am not telling you that this is a great piece of art, or that it is perfect, but it is a fun night out. The majority of the actors are making their NY stage debut in this show, and will only grow as actors over time.
I also waited until a critic's review was released before I posted. http://www.offoffonline.com/reviews.php?id=732
