Kazan: "I swear, ten minutes before the show, Barbra walks in. I was completely devastated. I walked up the five flights to my dressing room and cried and cried". p. 132 --- "....in the process, Barbra strained her voice even more. The next day, Barbra had no choice but to stay home.

PATTILUPONE Fanatic--if that's your idea of "back stabbing," that Barbra tried really hard not to miss a perfromance and disappoint her audience, then I don't really understand where you're coming from. I'm sure she can be faulted for many things, but I don't think that's one of them.

When she was on Rosie's show Barbra actually said that Lainie *did* go on, more than once.

Plus,PATTILUPONE Fanatic, if that horrible, idiotic, untrue book is what you're basing your opinion on..That's a shame.

Having seen Ana Gasteyer play the role, I must say that she was incredible. Funny Girl is my favorite musical and she pulled it off. Not only does she have an amazing voice but her acting was spot on. It was a pleasure seeing her play the part of Fanny Brice.

Bwaylover, I am corrected. Barbra said she went on once, Lainie said she never did (or so Rosie said.)

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
