I noticed that they have an audition for Fyedke in the upcoming revival of Fiddler... they are asking for a strong tenor singer in their 20s.. I remember Fyedke in the show, vaguely, but I do not recall him having a singing role per se... I checked in the original Broadway Cast CD, and it doesnt even list Fyedke as a character... it lists "the Russian", who sings the solo part in the song "to life", but I don't think that that is Fyedke.. does anyone have a clue about who he is or what he sings?
thanks
Fyedka is the Russian boy that Chava falls in love with. Perchik is Hodel's teacher.
Fyedka doesn't sing anything as a character, but perhaps the actor playing Fyedka will also understudy another character?
Yes, Fyedka does not sing anything at all. I suppose he will be doing some choral singing, or as magruder said, be understudying Motel, who is a tenor. Who knows. Or, it could be that they are making him do the Russian solo in "To Life". However, if you see that as a requirement in the audition notice, just make sure that you meet all the requirements before you go. It doesn't make sense to worry about what they might be thinking. Because you can never know that. Just be prepared, and do your best.
Cheers,
The Balladeer
im gonna go for hodel...best of luck to anyone else going! Their going to type cast eeekkk.. if anyone else is going and wants to meet ya know where to reach me..
Being that I am more of a Motel, than a Fyedka, and I'm coffee skinned.... I won't be going.

In some and almost all newer productions Fyedka IS the Russian Tenor in "To Life: La Hyaham"
That's prolly what they're talking about!
I saw in Back Stage they are only looking for the one daughter the youngerst of the 3 main daughters I think. They said they where looking for someone in there early 20's
