that would be a very good show.gaby is outstanding.reva and charlotte have done a great job getting the shows pace back to normal.i also would like to see bianca marroquin return to ny as roxie

Ruthie has been signed on to be the next Roxie in February '04 for a LONG time, so it's not rumor. I can't wait! I refused to go back to that show until she's back in it! She was my absolute favorite performer for the longest time... well, not counting Emily... Emily doesn't count. She never counts. LOL. Emily's like in a whole different playing field...

Anyhoo, I'm TOTALLY psyched to see Ruthie!!!

If thats true, that would be soo great!! I had the chance to see Gaby as Velma in Mexico and she is a very good Velma!!! Her dancing is FAB and her singing is very good. She gives the intention the role needs. Would be great to see her becoming the second mexican actress with a lead role in Chicago and Broadway, after Bianca Marroquin's Broadway debut the last summer in Chicago.

Wow! I hope this is true.....My HS Band/Chorus are seeing CHICAGO in April. :) It'll be the 2nd time i've seen this show, but the first time in the Ambassador Theatre.

Updated from the same anonymous source: "It's not a rumor Gaby and Ruthie are the next leads! Gaby will be Velma from December 8 to the end of Febuary. And Ruthie will only be there for a six week time period. Also it's said that Roxane Carrasco or Donna McKenchie will be the next Matron "Mama" Morton.

I saw Gabriela Garcia go on as Hunkyak when I saw it, and she was great. I'm having trouble picturing her as Velma, though. Ruthie seems more like the Velma type, and Gabriela seems more like a Roxie- but Donna McKechnie would be a great, great, great Mama Morton.

That wouldn't surprise me.... and that's not hard to find out. Rox returns to the company of CHICAGO on December 1st.

Gabby is an awesome Velma. She is a VERY VERY under appreciated talent in the cast of CHICAGO

Hmm, can't really picture Gabbyas Roxie...

BUT being Gabby has understudied and performed Velma in practically every company BUT New York (she did it in Vienna, Mexico, and U.S. Tour), I do hope that this info. comes to pass.

Gabriela and Ruthie would be dreamy.

Yes, Gaby is a very good Velma, really. Here in Mexico did a great great job, Im sure she knows very well that role, and to speak the truth Gaby is one of my three favorites Velmas Ive seen. I liked her ATJ ending, is very cool. Hope I can see her again as Velma.

GOSH!! Rumours spread SOSOSO quickly! I do not know about Gabriela, but Ruthie is DEFINITELY NOT GOIN BACK TO BROADWAY AMERICA FOR AT LEAST A PERIOD OF TIME! She has just given birth to her daughter and she said that she is hoping to go to Broadway but until Lily, her daughter is older. She do not want her daughter and husband Tim Howar to yearn for each other everyday. Just read her interview in the offical site!!!! I of course hope Ruthie will go to Broadway, but this is not possible at the moment I think! You may ask why she is in CHICAGO London, that's because she lives near Adelphi theatre and only arrives to the theatre 1 hr before the show and leaves immediately after the show. Now that TIm Howar is in Tonight's The Night, I think RUthie will concentrate in looking after her Lily!

I was just about to post that I too hear this is not true... At least the Ruthie part.

I know it was only put up as a rumor, but I wish these things would not be taken as fact. The often are and it gets ridiculous.

The Ruthie rumor has been floating around for a few months now. I have yet to hear any real truth to it, even from her website.

I'd still love to see Gabby play Velma on Broadway though

Hi,
Ruthie told the public (the interview is in the interactive part of her offical website) that she will not be returning to Broadway. It is because she do not want to miss her daughter and her husband. If she brings her daughter with her, his husband will suffer too! She do not want all three of them to suffer. She says she really enjoy being in Broadway, but she is still discussing with the producers when to get back. She has worked with Sandy Duncan as ROxie and she said she REALLY liked her Roxie.
