He said, on the Broadway.com "Recording A Chorus Line Video" that they were making a new soundtrack

Haha, I remember watching that and thinking, "Oh, boy, the kids on BWW are going to riot over this."
In all seriousness, though, a 'soundtrack' is sounds in tracks. That's what Broadway is. Still, though, the definition of soundtrack is:
2. the sound recorded on a motion-picture film; audio portion of a film.
3. the music or dialogue from a film available on a commercial recording.
So, really, a cast recording is NEVER, nor will it ever be, a soundtrack. :)
