GREASE on broadway

I asked this on the student board and only got two responses. I'll rephrase what i said ...

A broadway show is flinging themselves at teenagers for an open audition and i've barely seen anyone stir. I was just wondering why this is.

I'm not sure how i feel about the whole " youre the one that we want" deal, but i figured it wouild at least get HUGE publicity.

Does anyone know why they randomly decided to cast the leads of a broadway show with americas vote?

They're not open for teenagers. You have to be 18 or older. Granted that is still a teenage year, the bulk of the people who would be interested in auditioning are the 16 year olds who starred in the freshman play.

Why cast it with America's vote?

The version in London with Sound of Music did very well. Same producers.

GREASE was never really conceived to be played with actual teenagers - on Broadway, as in the movie, it's always been played with actors in their 20s-30s (and sometimes 40s).

I didnt mean to say teenagers. I'm 19 years old myself. I was in a local production of Grease this past spring, and when i saw the announcement for the broadway show I could just imagine a million girls around the age of 18 being all excited about it.

I know when I auditioned for it in the spring i got calledback for sandy BUT like you mentioned it is convieved to be an adult show. I was cast as Frenchy and looked SO much younger than the other women in it. I'm cursed with this. I look young for my age.

With that said...do you think its worth going for?

if ur more a frenchy...then no...because they are only casting sandy and danny...but onstage age doesnt matter
