Let me start by saying this is the first ever production of Gypsy I've ever seen. And boy, am I happy I saw it.
This is a phenomenal production, with an all-star cast.
Only when I got to the theater did I realize that the Original "March of the Falsettos" Trina, Alison Fraser, was playing the role of the stripper, Tessie Tura. That was quite amazing. She was hilarious in the song " You Gotta Get a Gimmick."
Boyd Gaines was awesome as Herbie, and Laura Benanti gave an incredible performance as Louise.
And what can you say about Patti, other than, one of the greatest performances of a lifetime. Her "Rose's Turn" was unlike any finale I've ever seen.
This is really gonna be a tough year for the Best Revival Tony. Time shall tell...

Glad you enjoyed it! It truly is an amazing cast! That being said I doubt it will win Best Revival, however I think it will win three Tony's for its three leading actors: Patti (best actress in a musical), Laura (best supporting actress), and Boyd Gaines (best supporting actor).
I would go as far as to say Laura is a definite for the win. Patti is more or less definite. Boyd Gaines will almost definitely win.

I saw the show last night because I had missed Laura Benanti when I saw it last week.
I absolutely loved this show. This is the first time I've seen GYPSY too.
'You Gotta Get A Gimmick' is one of my favorite parts. Those three women are fantastic.

Not to thread-jack, but I was next door today at the matinee of Xanadu, and cracked up at Mary Testa's joke about Gypsy. I think it is
"Short?! Please. Next door at Gypsy, Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated one of her daughters yet!!!"

She changes it up all the time. When Les Mis was at the broadhurst she cracked that joke about it. After it closed it was Spring Awakening, something along the lines of "Over at Spring Awakening the kids haven't even found their sexuality yet." or something. Now I guess she's using Gypsy.

Yeah, LOL, Mary's incredible with that stuff!
I can remember when I saw it back in July, she was all, "Short!? They haven't even started buildin' the barricade across the street!"
