So, from reading around here, I've noticed that the student rush for Gypsy is questionable because the stage is so high. Now, my friend and I are going to see the matinee tomorrow. We are rushing. I know after they sell front row, the sell other seats in the house, or so I've been told. Can anyone confirm this? And, if so, are we better off waiting, or should we just get whatever we can since we are both quite tall? Thanks for your help!
Yes, they will sell whatever is left. I've sat front row 3 times, row H in left orchestra and row E in right orchestra. I got row E 45 minutes before curtain last Saturday night. You should be fine.
Yes, but my question is should I wait for front row to sell out before getting tickets? Is it better to not get front row? Or does it not really matter?

Personally, I think you would be fine seeing it front row. I saw it second row and at first I thought the stage was too high, but it was actually a pretty nice view, even though you may miss one or two small things. It's all really worth it seeing Patti Lupone right in front of you. If you would prefer sitting farther back from the stage and see every detail then wait for it to sell out, but if you want to be upclose and see everything right in front of you, go with the front row.
They also have the box seats available for student rush. Unless that just happened to be a fluke when I went. If you don't mind sitting off to the left or right of the stage, and at mezzanine level, they are good seats. I think you want to get the right one more though because of set pieces that might be in the way on the left. I could be wrong though.

Front row isn't bad. I was left center exactly where Patti threw the letter at the end of "Everything's Coming Up Roses." I still have the pieces. The guy next to me was handed an apple from the trees during "Let Me Entertain You." The seats are great even if the view is a little chopped at times.

I sat front row last night for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed myself, the only issues were the scene with Pop because the table got in the way and in the Chinese restaurant but only when Boyd and Patti fall. Plus, the front row QUAKES during the end of Rose's Turn. It's very much worth lining up early.
