That would be fantastic if Gypsy was shown on TV - I hope it does one day!

Congrats Stanton. You have now started that rumor.
hahahahahaha....perhaps PBS can intitute a reality show with Patti putting all the wanna-be child actors through the ringer, to see it they're really cut out to be Broadway performers.
Seriously, I'd love to see that but find it totally unrealistic. At this point, it's too big a hit and too much of a classic. The powers that be sure wouldn't rain on the profits from future productions, all of which will be compared to the La LuPone classic.
Both this and South Pacific should be taped since in my opinion they perfect shows with perfect casts Tonys or not. Same with Sunday in the Park with George but unfortunately that closed and they already preserved the original with Mandy and Bernadette.
I think the idea of Patti hosting a reality show is genius.

I hope it'd be the same format as America's Next Top Model, so maybe Seth could be, like, Mr. Jay.
Never understood the point of these threads......."let's-start-a-rumor-about-something-so-it-can-be-the-talk-of-the-board-and-then-everyone-will-be-mad-when-it-never-happens."

Peoples lack of reading comprehension is not my concern or problem. If they get themselves in a tizzy over it, that's they're problem.
this made me giggle.

They could use it for pledge week
I think Gypsy would be a great candidate for Great Performances, and South Pacific a great candidate for Live From Lincoln Center. *fingers crossed*

omg i wish they would. but who knows. i wished they would have done the revinia one but i didn't even know if it was taped. i mean alot of productions she's been in have been on.
This really should be taped. Hell, everything should be taped.
Oh wait, everything is. They just lock all of it away so nobody can ever see it or enjoy it.

There was discussion of the 2003 revival being taped for PBS, but supposedly Laurents nixed it. I doubt it'll happen, but if they are interested, then at least Laurents won't be an obstacle this time...
Ah! I hope so!
Speaking of Arthur Laurents, I wonder what he thought of Charles Strouse's memoir...

Maybe they will do it since there is a huge interest in this production.

WHat did Strouse say about Arthur?
He shared some typical Arthur stories. Arthur screaming at him, Arthur saying his music is only good because the orchestrations are good, Arthur locking them (Charles and Richard Maltdby)in his Quouge beach house in order to get the score finished, Arthur laughing when he found out Tony Perkins had AIDS. Typical Arthur stuff. But we love him anyway!
