LIGHT UP THE NIGHT FOR EQUAL RIGHTS
On December 20th, we ask that you join us again for a nation-wide demonstration. The rally at City Hall on November 15, 2008 was just the beginning. In cities across the nation, people will once again be taking to the streets to stand up for Equality. We are not done fighting!!!
6:00pm
MARCH FROM HERALD SQUARE (35th St./6th Avenue)
7:00-8:00pm
RALLY NEAR TIMES SQUARE (7th Avenue/42nd St.)
---------------------------------------
THINGS TO BRING:
1. We ask that those attending bring either a CANDLE, FLASHLIGHT, or anything else that can be used to "light up the night."
2. Make a white knot out of ribbon and wear it! (Much like the red ribbon was the symbol for "AIDS Awareness," the white knot is being used as the symbol for "Marriage Equality" as a way of representing "tying the knot.")

Keep checking back on the group page, this event page, and our website for any updates. Please encourage your friends and families to join us. We can't fight this fight alone. We need the support of all of those around us. Send out an invite to all of your Facebook friends. Let's make this event HUGE!!!!!!!!!
---------------------------------------
If you are interested in volunteering we have several things that you can do to help out:
1. MARSHALS (crowd control the day of the event)
2. COMMUNITY OUTREACH (we will be posting a factsheet on this page and our website for people to hand out. On one side we will have facts about what rights the LGBTQ community is being denied and on the other there will be a flyer inviting them to the event on Dec. 20. We are encouraging everyone to take some time, print these materials off and pass them out to people on the street with their friends or anyone they know who might be interested. Many people do not know the number of rights that the LGBTQ community is being denied and it is important that we educate them.)
3. SET UP
4. CLEAN UP
5. Print out flyers and spread the word!!!!
To sign up for volunteering, go to our website www.jointheimpactnyc.wetpaint.com and sign up there or send us an email and let us know what you are interested in doing.

FOOD DRIVE
The same day that we are holding the march and rally, we will also be conducting a food drive at the Trader Joes and Whole Foods around Union Square. In the spirit of the holiday season, we felt it was important to give back to the community. The nation is hurting and so are its people. This is our way of helping alleviate the hunger Americans are facing during this difficult time.
With that said, we are looking for volunteers to help collect food for us and help in the distribution of it to the organization we have chosen, Sylvia's Place. If you would like to help out, please email impactnyc@gmail.com and sign up on our website www.jointheimpactnyc.wetpaint.com for more information.
If you are interested in donating food, we will be collecting at these two locations from 10-4. Please feel free to come by and drop off canned goods or other non-perishable food items.
---------------------------------------
Please feel free to design flyers and logos for this event and post them here or on our website in a format that they can be easily printed off for distribution.

STORIES:
We are looking for people to share their stories with us. We are thinking of possibly having people tell their stories at this upcoming rally or other future events. We are interested in stories that cover a wide range of gay rights issues. If you are having adoption issues, we want to hear. If you were wrongfully fired from your work, we want to know your story. Any and all stories are welcome. Tell us how you are directly affected by one of the 1.324 rights that the LGBTQ community is denied. We are looking for age range and diversity in stories. If you know someone who has a story that might not use facebook, share it with us and let us know how to get in touch with them. Please email us your stories at impactnyc@gmail.com.
Let your voices be heard. Join the Impact!
Thanks,
Heath
