"Maybe it wasn't generally picked up because it's not common knowledge when people think of things that are distinctly Ancient Egyptian, but the war with Nubia was based on truth."
I get that much. But what about something Egyptian in the sets, costumes, score, etc. Other than the "eye", the princess hat and an occasional triangular shape, there really wasn't anything Egyptian about the show other than references in dialogue which seemed completely out of place given the costumes and set design, so why even bother wth the scenes in the museum? It was as if the producers deliberately kept the designers from communicating with each other until opening night.

Posted: 3/7/05 at 7:12pmi didn't really like it. some of the songs were good but some like the ones sung by zoser were just bad. I also didn't like the design of the show. THe acting wasn't bad but in general i thought the show was just poor. Well i am glad all of you like it!

Posted: 3/7/05 at 7:51pmI happen to love th zoser songs. They may not have the same meaning as other songs in the show and don't fit in as well as others but I find them fun and entertaining.

Posted: 3/7/05 at 8:26pmAida was a great show. Unfortunatly, I saw Taylor Dayne in it. I thank Aida for introducing me to Adam, Sherie, and Heather. The OBCR is still one of my favorites.

Posted: 3/7/05 at 8:29pmI think the music is incredible, and the original cast was fantastic, but the show is just wretched. The book, the sloppy way of telling the story, the incredibly god-awful choreography....everything except the cast and the music was awful, but the score remains one of my favorites.

Posted: 3/7/05 at 9:03pmI'll go along with Adam Pascal's assessment: "Is it the greatest show in the world? Of course not, but it's enjoyable and people love it."

AND, he says that even "mediocre Elton John is better than some of the other CRAP out there."
See, I knew there was a reason I liked him.

Posted: 3/7/05 at 9:14pmI have never seen Aida, but I own the OBCR and it's among my favorites. The Zoser songs aren't that great, but (being the dancer/aspiring choreographer that I am) I can see how they might have worked decently on stage. As for the concept album- very bad, except for Written in the Stars, which I still think is surpassed by the OBCR version. The story might fall a little dead at some points, but all in all, I think it was a pretty great show (based on what I've seen/heard).
