George M. Cohan Tonight! at the Irish Rep

Jon Peterson is giving a wonderful solo performance as George M. Cohan at the Irish Repertory Theatre.

A charming singing voice with warbly use of period vocal technique. Fun mime. Terrific tap and soft shoe.

What loose legs he has to tap so quick, and great extensions, flowing arms, a graceful lean here and there.

He deserves his Drama Desk nom and seems to live in and enjoy the role.

I had an equally awesome time at this show. It's definitely worth checking out before it closes.

As a word of caution though, unlike most Irish Rep productions, it isn't staged so that everything can be seem by the people sitting on the side. A friend of mine saw it that way and she said she missed a lot of things. Just make sure you're in the main center section.
