Looks like the Ford(hilton) is not the biggest anymore..
Chitty redid the theater, and it's now 1804
The Gershwin is 1809 :)
Also, nice gross for Chitty: 100% attn with 75 avg. ticket!

According to the Gershwin's website, they have over 1900 seats. Whether they're are currently in use or not--I do not know. Didn't Mantello have a row or two taken out of the orchestra for "Wicked?"

OH MY GOSH! Thank you so much for posting this. I got SOO scared that something was going to be better than anything related to Wicked and I was freaking out. Thank god!

I have heard from friends at the theater that Chitty has been sold out all week and has an advance equal to if not greater than Spamalot did before their previews and reviews. I have said it before and still believe Chitty will be the longest running show of this season. It simply has the widest audience appeal, magnificent sets/costumes and is a spectacle with songs you can sing! I hope all the shows enjoy long runs but urge all the DRS and Spam fans not to overlook Chitty. I think it might just be the next Beauty & The Beast (which lost the Tony to Passion). So much for awards. Long runs mean jobs for our community.
