Is anyone else going to the Lauren Pritchard show tonight at Joe's Pub? It's great that Sh-K-Boom is bringing back the old series; I was too young/unaware/in the wrong state to have been able to go to the originals. Looks like a pretty good lineup. Who else is in?

Bumping to see if anyone is coming out tonight to see the Petersons? If not tonight, who's heading out next week for the Reefer Madness CD release concert? I cannot wait for that one; it should be hilarious!

Here's the info about tonight's show:

The Petersons, described by The New York Times as "a hipster theater mock-rock group with a devoted following," are the purveyors of a unique blend of live music and irreverent satire (a situation-rock-comedy, if you will). They're sort of like a live, late-night version of The Partridge Family, except they write their own songs and play their own music and they curse a lot more.

The group includes Mr. Peterson, a mailman who moonlights as the frontman of the outfit; Mrs. Peterson, an adulteress and self-described "sensualist" who sings and plays the percussive egg; Pete Petersen (no relation), who drums and lives in his trailer parked in the Peterson's driveway; Julio, on bass, a Mexican immigrant formerly married to Mrs. Peterson's sister Claudia, but who now sleeps above the Peterson's garage, much like The Fonz; and Father Tom, the lead guitarist, a defrocked priest who resides in the Peterson's attic.

In real life, The Petersons are Adam Stein, Keira Naughton, Pete Simpson, Rick Holmes, Matt Saldivar and Evan Robertson, and they come prepared with a completely new show and oftentimes a special guest for each performance. Previous guests include Academy Award winner Paul Newman, Tony Award winners James Naughton and Robert Sean Leonard, Emmy Award nominee Michael C. Hall, That 70's Show's Mila Kunis, the uncategorizable John Cameron Mitchell, Virgin Records recording artist Gavin DeGraw, Ben Shenkman (of HBO's Angels in America), cabaret phenomenon Rene Risque, singer/songwriter Mike Doughty (formerly of Soul Coughing, on the Slash/Warner Brothers label), and many more.

The Petersons have played more than 40 sold out shows in NYC at such venues as Joe's Pub at the Public Theater, Caroline's Comedy Club, the Bottom Line (before NYU ate it), Sin-e (before the Lower East Side killed it), Ars Nova, Galapagos, Fez, the Whitney Museum of Contemporary Art and the West Bank Cafe. They were also invited to perform a workshop of their original theatrical show at the renowned New York Stage and Film.

anyone go to the Reefer Madness concert? I was supposed to but sick in bed how was it? I know Jennifer Leigh Green was a guest as Mary Lane sounds like it was fun
