That's right! Europe's new pop-concert-musical-spectacular is GLADIATOR! I guess Gone With the Wind wasn't spectacular enough.

The official web site is done in Flash so it's hard to get software to translate it. The subtitle is "He Dreamed of Being Free"... the project looks to be backed by Universal in France, and is being produced (I think... his role isn't defined; they just say it's "his") by the same person who created a spectacle based on "The Ten Commandments".
Basically, it looks like an adaptation of the same story as from the film. The sound clips sound like your basic French rock musical (Roméo et Juliette, etc.) and the marketing spin is lovely: "The 21 songs [on the concept album, released March 16] are not just something one listens to, but a history that takes form in film-like imagery, permitting the sharing of the emotion, the power, and the epic story of a man who changed the face of our world." (sorry -- I'm not much of a translator)
I won't count on it ending up anywhere off the European mainland :)

Not everybody can value my subtle elegant and exquisite sense of humour and I cannot imagine why...
The summer will be too warm to wear that dress (or any other)
