elphabas flying machine: she stands on a platform thats raised...also has a giant claw around her midsection that lifts her up.

Glindas bubble is lowered in the wings, Jennifer goes in it and gets buckled in. It is then raised in the wings and is attached to a track at the top of the stage and is moved out.

Yes. I also found the point where she gets "unbuckled"...I noticed Manuel Herrera fiddling around with the back of the bubble...

I have GOT to go back to that show!(For meny reasons). I REALLY want to go back to see the little things like that.
You can see the DG claw on the "Broadway in America" DVD. It's kind of quick though.

Elphaba doesn't stand on a platform that is raised. She backs up into that claw thing it and it raises her. Her feet are dangling.
Broadway gal. Thats Manuel Herrara fastening the cord (or whatever it is) That holds her in so she cant fall out.

Elphaba is standing on a platform when she's raised up. Idina wouldn't be able to sing that song the way she does if she was hoisted up at the waist while her body just hangs there. It would be too much pressure on her body.
And the "bubble clip" is something similar to a dog chain clip. You know, the silver thing you latch onto the loop of the dog's collar?...Yeah, like that.
