Wow, am I the only person that finds this play to be a dour, joyless experience? I've enjoyed reading Godot, but sitting through it, even with excellent actors, was a true misery. Couldn't wait to get out of the theatre.

Behind the fake tinsel of Broadway is real tinsel.

Hmmm - I'm seeing it on the 29th... Wasn't it extended?

I saw it last night, too, for the second time, and found it a vastly entertaining and moving and thought-provoking experience. John Goodman was much better last night than he was a few weeks back, I must have just had the bad luck to see him on an off night.

Dour and joyless? Compared with what? It's a cavalcade of light and laughter next to NEXT TO NORMAL.

I saw it last night too.

To me the best part of the show was Irwin and Lane. I thought they're chemistry was remarkable, and that's been echoed by people who I've talked to who have also seen the show. Goodman and Glover were excellent, but I just couldn't wait for them to get off stage because I thought the moments with just Irwin and Lane alone were so wonderful.

Very similar production to Exit the King. They take a tragicomedy and really exploit it for comedy. And not just the cerebral stuff to be found in the text, but a genuinely entertaining and hilarious.

I love that they've taken these two plays and found a way to make them accessible to a mainstream audience and still maintain the philosophical edge and tragedy.
