So I had an audition recently for Godspell and was cast as Peggy. I think she sings "By My Side" or something. I know the music well but can't seem to find my cd anywhere so I can't listen to it. Anyways, what's this character about? Is it a good part? Is the show all singing or is there dialogue? Thanks!

There is plenty of Dialogue in Godspell. Yes, Peggy sings By My Side, and in most productions, a solo in Tower of Babble as well. MTIShows.com will have all the info you need. Enjoy.

There are no definite characters in Godspell. The names of the supporting cast (besides Jesus and John the Baptist/Judas) change from production to production. For instance, my friend Marc sings the song "We Beseech Thee", and his character's name is Marc. Does that make sense? So if your name is Betty, and you're cast as whomever, then that character becomes Betty. The names in the script (Stephen, David, Jeffrey, and so on) are the names of the original cast members.

Peggy is the sweet one... very "Mother Nature" like.

The girl who played it at our school was a tiny little girl, and she just fit it so well. Instead of using a puppet for one of the scenes, we just sat her on Jesus's lap. It was hilarious! It looked just like the "Reached for teh Gun" scene in Chicago.

But "By My Side" is a beautiful song... it was beautiful. Hope you have fun like I did!

Thanks. Yeah I am pretty little so I guess that will work for the whole shy thing. I'm pretty shy too- well, except on stage. re: Godspell

"By My Side" is the best song in the show - you're so lucky to be performing it.

there is no real lead in this show....well other than Jesus and Judus (i played Judas, i loved it!), but its a very "ensemble" show. ull probably become very close with the other people in ur company...its that kind of "family" show. I loved it when I was in it! Updated On: 2/8/05 at 09:36 PM

Yay I am excited now. Thanks to everyone! And one of my really good friends is playing Jesus (it was a coincedence that we showed up at the same audition) and he played Joseph in Joseph... Dreamcoat last year so we laugh about that.
