Going Down Key?

I have a question...

I am interested in doing Going Down from Hair for an audition. I'd like to sing it in the same key that Gavin Creel sings it in on the actor's benefit CD. However the key that I have it in is in C and that isn't the one he sings it in. Can anyone tell me the key he sings it in so I can attempt to transpose it? If anyone could help me out here I would be very appreciative.

Just to expand on juice23's answer, yes, he sings the song in D, which has two sharps.

My mind must be in the gutter....I saw "going down" and didn't realize that it was in reference to the song from HAIR...and I thought..."what on earth could this thread be about?"
